What is Housing Navigation?

Housing Navigation is hands‑on support to help you find, qualify for, and secure housing. We guide the search, coach you through paperwork, and stand beside you through every step—until you have keys in hand.


  • Create a housing plan that fits your needs and budget.
  • Search listings and match you to suitable units
  • Assist with applications, documents, credit, and rental history
  • Communicate and negotiate with landlords and property managers
  • Coordinate eligible deposits and move-in support (when authorized)
  • Collaborate with your care team to keep housing and health aligned

No. We work by referral only. If you need immediate help, call 2‑1‑1 to get connected to local resources. For our services, ask your Medi‑Cal Managed Care Plan (MCP) to send an authorized Community Supports/ECM referral to Inland Housing Solutions (if available for your county/plan).

It varies. First, your MCP reviews and authorizes services; IEHP’s standard pre‑service decisions are typically made within 5 business days once the plan has the information it needs. After authorization, your Navigator starts right away—but actual move‑in timing depends on housing availability, your documents/eligibility, and your preferences. (Some plans also require steps like a period of Navigation before Housing Deposits are approved.)

Our services are accessed through Medi‑Cal plans. If you don’t have Medi‑Cal or need support while you apply, call 2‑1‑1 to find housing and health resources in your area. They’ll point you to county programs and community help.
